Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What is a Home Inspection?
A:  A home inspection is the equivalent of a physical examination from your
doctor.  A home inspection is an objective visual examination of the physical
structure and systems of a home, from roof to foundation. When problems or
symptoms of problems are found, the inspector may recommend further
evaluation or remedies.

Q:  What does a Home Inspection include?
A:  A standard home inspection summarizes and reports findings from a visual
inspection of the condition of the subject home’s heating system, central air
conditioning system (temperature permitting), interior plumbing and electrical
systems; roof, attic, and visible insulation; walls, ceilings, floors, windows and
doors; foundation, basement, and the visible structures of the home.

Q:  How do I choose a Home Inspector?
A:  Choose an inspector based on experience and credentials.  Ask plenty of
questions.  You must feel confident that the inspector is qualified, experienced,
and attentive to your needs.

Q:  How long will an inspection take?  Should I be present?
A:  An average inspection takes approximately 3-4 hours, depending on the
size and age of the home.  We recommend that you are present for the
inspection, from start to finish.

Q:  Why can't I do it myself?
A:  Even the most capable handyman lacks the training and expertise of a
Professional Home Inspector.  Professional Inspectors have an instinct for
finding potential problems that only comes with extensive training and
experience.
A:  Many buyers find it difficult to remain objective and unemotional about the
"perfect home" they have found, and this may affect their judgment.  A
Professional Home Inspector provides an objective third-party report prepared
by an expert in the field.
